Painting in Monet's Garden in France

Donna was given special permission to paint in Monet's Garden, where she had this incredible place to herself. Monet and the Impressionists are a huge influence on Donna's artwork. "There is nothing better than painting plein air and capturing a moment in time on canvas. Getting the light and atmosphere into an artwork while being totally immersed  in the surroundings is the most incredible experience." Donna Gibb

Materially Designed Exhibition at the Royal Queensland Art Society Petrie Terrace Gallery, Brisbane

Inspired by Australian Artist Hugh Ramsay and American Artist John Singer Sargent, I captured my Daughter in my old School formal Dress from the 1980's. My Nana made this silk taffeta dress, and I was thrilled and touched to have her seamstress work recognised along side my life size artwork of Hannah. Behind her is an old Singer Sewing Machine owned by my other Grandma, my favourite lamp and the bottom of the painting I created plein air when we visited Monet's Garden and had his Lilly Pond to ourselves. The award I won was "Inter Generational thread award" There are many fine artworks made of paint and fabric for sale, so get along to the Gallery by the 3rd of September!

Looking Back on my Art Journey HORSES!

"Equine Artwork is one of my favourite subjects"

"My Great Grandfather was a Jockey, and I have always been interested in Horse Racing. When I was a child, I used to draw horses a lot. I have been fortunate enough to combine my passion of art with horse racing and have painted live at many of Australia's Horse Racing Tracks at many carnivals and events. It has been a privilege and an honour to capture Makybe Diva's last race, Black Caviar's last appearance in the "Theatre of the Horse" at Randwick, as well as historical artwork and commissions for racing identities, and entities, and at charity events and corporate hospitality for clients including Lion Nathan, The VRC, The BRC, Australia Post, Jayco, Bradley Australia and many more. I was also selected as a finalist for the National Equine A  It has been a while since I created an artwork at the track, so none of them have been on my present website. The Magic Millions Carnival has inspired me to take a walk down memory lane!" Donna Gibb

Please see below some equine artwork!

I have always enjoyed the incredible food at this delicious Restaurant.

When I painted Thierry Galichet for the BPP he still headed up this legendary restaurant he created. Although he has now sold it to one of his incredible colleagues, the menu, food and atmosphere are still top notch.                                                                                                                                              Now you can enjoy the private dining room area with Thierry as well!

Reach out if you would like your own commission for your business or home.

      OPRAH IS COMING TO BRISBANE!

Here is a video I have of painting in Sydney 15 years ago when she had her show at the Oprah House.

      OPRAH IN SYDNEY 2010

Painted live at Circular Quay. See a video below of audience members adding to my canvas with messag

In 2010 I  flew to Sydney from Brisbane and hired a camera guy to film me painting with Oprah's Audience members who were enjoying a meal at "Doyles" Circular Quay. I never did manage to get the artwork to her as my studio got struck by lightning and fire and it needed restoration, and then the momentum faded. If anyone has any ideas on how I could still get this painting and the video on the making of the artwork with the messages from her fans to Oprah, please reach out!

With Oprah visiting Brisbane, it reminded me of this artwork!

I would love to be able to get this painting (now restored) and the video messages to Oprah as a tribute to her trip to Australia. Watch the video below for full painting description!

I was thrilled to be a finalist in the BPP 2021. With an overseas trip, illness and other factors, my sitter for this year didn’t work out.

Then inspiration hit. Right here in my studio!

Watching my student, Claudia paint Keith Burt in her “Claudia” way, it struck me, this was a rare opportunity to capture a next gen artist capturing the celebrated Keith Burt… the established.

I am so proud that she has not lost her ability to paint with confidence and has retained her Avant guard approach to painting with her brushwork and colour mixing.

This is one of the images I used as inspiration.

For 7 years I have enjoyed teaching 13 year old Claudia and have enjoyed watching her artwork become more sophisticated as she has learnt the skills and techniques learned through time and practice.

Claudia's artwork was an entrant in the Emerging Artist Category for under 18's.

VISIT THE ROYAL QUEENSLAND ART SOCIETY, PETRIE TCE, BRISBANE TO VIEW THE ARTWORK ALONG WITH 60 INCREDIBLE FINALISTS AND WINNERS UNTIL NOVEMBER 7.
