it is a privilege to be an artist
Painting live for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation
I think this is probably my 16th year I have painted for the Morcombe Foundation at Brisbane City hall. Every year they launch new initiatives to keep our kids safe. A lasting legacy to Bruce and Denise's Son Daniel.
Exhibiting in New York City at the Clio Art Fair
I LOVE NYC! it is an amazing place. What an experience meeting other artists and collectors. I was thrilled to see my artwork and gain gallery representation by the Parkline Gallery in uptown New York City. You can visit there to see my artwork for sale in NYC.
Finalist in the Percival's Portrait Prize
The Perceval's is a 50K art prize in my home town, Townsville. I was thrilled to have my artwork of my Dad Don McGrath painting his self portrait hanging on the Walls of the Perc Tucker Gallery . A gallery I have visited many times to view artwork.
I painted an idea that has been brewing for a while
in 2013 I painted at the Landsborough Flock Ewe show in Muttaburra, and auctioned the artwork in aid of drought relief. It was the delayed 50th celebration and they were in drought. Very ironic, as the year before was cancelled at Muttaburra and held in Longreach because of flooding. I have wanted to capture the spirit of the outback and the people on our land who persevere through flood and drought as a tribute to their strength and tenacity. So finally I painted this piece this year . "Fortitude and resilience, the show must go on" for Sale now, $5500.00 1m x .8m and I will donate $1000 of the sale proceeds to the Royal Flying Doctors service. (There is a shadow of a RFDS plane in the artwork as well.)
Painting with guests at Vantage Hervey Bay club house launch
What an incredible event. I got to capture all of the special elements that put Vantage luxury lifestyle resorts in a class of their own. The lucky peops who already live there as well as perspective owners helped me paint this one by adding to the canvas and signing the back. The original completed artwork will be hanging in the new club house soon. This place has everything and a special feeling to it that already feels like home. Check it out for yourself https://vantageherveybay.avid.com.au/
Plein Air in Queens Park
I have painted in Monet's garden and it was a career highlight having Monet's garden to myself. Closer to home, I get to paint at Toowoomba Carnival of flowers most years. This is what I do on my "day off" The best thing in the world for me is to see beauty and capture it there and then. Visit the gallery page for artworks for sale and prints in the online store.
For almost 30 Years I have been a member of Centenary Pool

I've been working on this one ever since and its now complete. Original and prints available.
